I have been a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers for several years now, having first been introduced to them when I received a scholarship during my Masters at the Royal College of Art. They have been a huge support to me and my work throughout my career and I had the privilege and honour of being made a Liveryman this January at the Watermans Hall. I hope I will make a good Liveryman!!
Opened this shoe calendar sent by the lovely people at Virtual Shoe Museum to find my shoe on 2nd Jan! Great start to the year so far!
The Pattenmakers marked their 300th year in July this year with a celebratory evening at the London Guildhall. A shoe exhibition curated by Paolo Gabrielli "The Shoes that Shape Our World" displayed a range of shoes from past to present. Guest speakers included the HRH Duke of Gloucester and Alexander Schulman.
I was lucky enough to be invited to display my shoes and hold a little demonstration on what goes into the making of a pair of steel heels.
The book to accompany the V&A Museum's exhibition on shoes.
